Wigs for Alopecia Universalis: Grip Bands, Tape, Adhesive, and What Lasts
Share
With alopecia universalis there is no hair underneath to clip into. A human hair wig has to stay put through your whole day, comfortably. These are the options we fit.
A Properly Measured Cap
Security starts with fit. A cap measured to your head moves less, needs less help, and feels lighter.
Grip Bands
A soft band worn under the wig adds friction at the hairline and nape. Comfortable, removable, and good for daily wear.
Adjustable Straps and Combs
Straps tighten the fit; combs need some hair to grip, so they are less useful with universalis.
Tape and Adhesive
For the most secure hold, especially for active days. We show you how to apply and remove them gently and which suit sensitive skin.
A Natural Hairline
Without your own hairline, the wig's front edge matters most. Hand-tied fronts and lighter density at the edge look natural up close.
Brows and Lashes
Many clients with universalis also plan for brows and lashes. We can talk through what pairs well with your wig.
Insurance
A wig for alopecia is often reimbursable as a cranial prosthesis (HCPCS A9282, or L8499, only if your insurer asks for it). Human hair wigs start at $3,000. See alopecia wigs.
